Gear List v4, Aug. 30, 2010Added: Climbing helmets - All participants are required to wear a climbing helmet (UIAA,CE) while on ropes of any type. The following helmets are only approved for climbing and cannot be used for cyclying: Kong Scarab, Petzel Meteor, Salewa Helium. Mandatory Per Individual: - Mountain Bike - Biking Helmet - Front Light - Rear Light - Batteries to last throughout the evening - Knife 2.5" (folding blade) - Head Lamp - Waterproof Rain Jacket - Light Fleece or Poly-Pro Type Top - Whistle - Climbing Gear (climbing helmet, harness, personal preference whether frog, double, jumars or prussic; rappelling: ATC, figure 8, or brake repelling device w/Carabineer; Two 12" slings; Two locking carabineers - 1 snorkeling mask; snorkel is optional (tbd) Per Team: - 1 bike multi tool - Pump - Patch kit - Spare tubes - First Aid Kit* - Compass (one per two people) - Cell Phone - Kayaks (must be tandem - if bringing own boats) - Paddles - Life vest (US Coast Guard approved) - Glow sticks 4 per boat - Rope to tie glow sticks - Strobe light per boat - Support Crew * As per USARA sanctioning rules, the first aid must contain the following:(Cool 2x2 or 3x3 sterile dressing, (2) 3x4 non adherent sterile dressing, (1) conforming gauze bandage, (4) 1x3 adhesive bandage, (3) knuckle adhesive bandage, (1) tape 1/2"x 10 yards, (1) swift wrap elastic bandage, (Cool 200mg. Ibuprofen, (2) antihistamine (Diphenhydramine), (2) afterbite sting relief, (1) moleskin, (5) towelettes, (3) antibiotic ointment, (1) tincture of benzoin, (3) butterfly closure bandage, (2) pair nitrile gloves, (1) tweezer, (3) safety pins, (1) duct tape, (2) alosak. Suggested: - Sun Hat - Tights - Windbreaker - Convertible pants - Sunglasses - Extra pair of socks - Mosquito repellant - Backpack w/Hydration Bladder - Contact Paper - Map kit - Dry Bag - Tow kit - 2nd Bladder - Zip locks - Ibuprofen - Sunscreen - Bug Repellent - Map Case - Duct tape - Bilge Pumps (1 per boat) for sit in kayaks * It is STRONGLY suggested to one member of the team is first aid certified. |
